NRA Defensive Pistol
Develop the defensive mindset and advanced skills necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. This intensive course covers principles of concealment, drawing from holster, mental awareness levels, distinguishing cover from concealment, clearing stoppages, flash sight picture, reloading under stress, and immediate action drills. You’ll practice presenting from concealment and engaging targets at varying distances while learning to avoid life-threatening confrontations and understanding the psychological and physiological changes during high-stress encounters.
Prerequisites: Open to adults 21 and over who have completed a basic pistol marksmanship course or have military or LEO training with handguns.
NRA Personal Protection in the Home
Learn essential defensive shooting skills and strategies for protecting yourself and your family within your home. This comprehensive eight-hour course covers shooting from standing and kneeling positions, engaging from behind cover, clearing malfunctions, speed reloading techniques, and basic movement skills. You’ll develop the knowledge and mindset necessary for responding to a violent home intrusion, understanding firearms law and legal aspects of deadly force, selecting appropriate handguns and ammunition for home defense, and implementing effective home safety strategies. Training includes both classroom instruction and approximately 100 rounds of live-fire range exercises.
Prerequisites: Open to adults 21 and over who have completed a basic pistol marksmanship course or have military or LEO training with handguns. Defensive Pistol strongly recommended but may be waived with express instructor permission.
NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home
Master the essential knowledge and skills for carrying, storing, and using a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection beyond your home. This intensive course teaches you to avoid dangerous confrontations while developing proficiency with concealed carry techniques. You’ll learn advanced defensive shooting skills, legal aspects of armed self-defense in public spaces, threat assessment and response strategies, shooting from various positions and while moving, and proper concealment methods and carry options. Training emphasizes the safe, effective, and responsible use of a concealed pistol in real-world scenarios. Course includes extensive range time with approximately 100-200 rounds depending on level completed.
Prerequisites: Completion of NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home course required.
